Do the Catholics on here heard of Veronica's Veil?
She's in the Stations of the Cross, if I remember my catechism, and possibly in the list of the sorrowful prayers of the Rosary. She is sort of a sidebar in the footnotes of the New Testament. According to the story, Jesus kept stumbling on his way to Golgotha, and the Romans kept whipping him to keep Him moving. Veronica took pity on Him and realized that the blood and sweat blinded Him, so she pulled off her veil and wiped His face, so that He could see again. Legend has it that when Christ continued on, Veronica looked at her veil, and it bore the face of Jesus, bonded to the cloth.
