I'm a confused helpless Muslim who needs some help?

hey, i am a bit confused; about maybe a month ago, i started becoming more religious, and i gave more of an interest towards Islam; i began making my prayers 5 times a day, and studied some Qu'ran, and just read stuff about Islam. Unfortunately, my grades have dropped to an all time low and my parents aren't too happy about it. I feel like i am working hard to be a good Muslim, but I don't think im being rewarded or something; i know patience is a very important practice in Islam, and i have still have my trust in Allah; i just want to know what i'm doing wrong so i can raise my iman higher, and not have a bad life :( help me millions of Muslims out there....
