What is the cheapest way to send money from the UK to Costa Rica(Central America) REMEMBER-FROM UK NOT USA :-)?

does he have access to a computer? is it possible for you to simply email the money to him...i've done it many times and it doesn't cost a thing...not sure about the currency exchange like if it just automatically changes it to whatever dollars, pound, euro whatever it is. when i sign in to my online banking it has a place for me to email money...it sends it to their email with a security question..the recipient answers the security question and automatically transfers the money. you've likely tried this and it's only tried and failed repeated info, but u didn't mention it so i thought i'd try to be of some help...good luck to you!
