Can someone explain what sanguine means in the follow sentence?

This probably refers to Texans' benevolent attitude toward undoented immigration. They are more comfortable with it because many of them are descended from such immigrants and they do not hold the negative stereotypes that so many anglos do. Also, non-hispanic Texans are fully aware of how essential these immigrants are to the economy and thus to their own lives. The same is true of Californians, Floridians, and other such states.
