I just get a 1987 honda prelude and it wont start.?

i dont know anything about cars, he told me that all it need was a tire and a new battery. So i did all of that plus i put oil, gas, water, brake fluid, all the little thing. And everything in that car will turn on but it will not start. i mean i turn the key and nothing happens it does not even make a sound. What could it be.
